TR1 Classic December Waxing

December 12, 2013 Posted by Ross

December skiing will all be part of our ‘classic december’ plan. This of course means grip waxing. We have a lot of instruction and skiing activiities to fit into only a hour and half. So…
-Make sure you are ready to go on time…which means arriving 10-15′ early
-Do the majority of waxing at home. Start with a cold  base wax (Green or Super Blue Rode) and heated in, and then one Marginally warmer layer corked in over top.
-Bring your own wax and cork to practice. Bring the wax of the day and one warmer with you while you ski.

The 3 most important Waxes for skiing at Telemark are RODE Violet, RODE Viola Multigrade and RODE Super Blue. This covers 0 to -20C

The Next ones to buy would be in this order: RODE Super Extra, RODE Blue Multigrade, RODE Viola Extra and RODE Rot Extra. These are the best waxes we use and they are also the least expensive at $12 each.

These are all in stock at Kelowna Cycle 2949 Pandosy Street. RODE at KC

Please do not waste your money on any of the VR line of Swix waxes; we have only used them once in the last 3 seasons at the races and it turned out we should have used RODE Super Extra instead.

-Adam will have the wax of the day posted on the white board in the racing room. There will be one to two tins of that wax on the wax bench, this is not enough to get 14 kids waxing (see previous point).
-We would like kids to be responsible for waxing their own skis, but we are going to start assigning parents on a rotating basis to assist with waxing at practice. If you can’t make it then it will be your responsibility to find a replacement.
Happy Waxing!

Junior Development Skiing Tonight! December 11th 2013 and more

December 11, 2013 Posted by Coach Adam

Hello Ski Fans,

Just a reminder that we will be Classic skiing tonight, Wednesday at 6pm and Saturday 10:30 at Telemark. The Calender states the time and the technique and if there is no location given then it is at Telemark. Technique will say “CL” for Classic and “SK” for Skate in the title.

Remember to bring a headlamp for night skiing as we often venture off of the 3km of lit trails.

For those heading to Rossland Toko RED appears to be the wax I would prepare your skis with.

On another note we want to congratulate all the Telemark racers who braved the cold temperatures at Sovereign Lake this past weekend.  We had some very good results for the first race of the season.  Everyone should be proud of themselves.  David Walker made the podium with his 3rd place finish on Sunday’s 5km race.  Thanks also to Adam for his waxing and coaching.

For complete results of Sunday’s race see: http://zone4.ca/results.asp?ID=6146&cat=all

David Vernon

Thanks, Adam
