Important Update

November 4, 2021 Posted by Coach Adam

Hello Telemark Ski Families,

As you all know by now, the PHO has mandated that everyone working with Youth Athletes in programs needs to be vaccinated and have a valid BC Vaccine Passport or equivalent.

This would include parent helpers (anyone with the group more than 10 minutes) and all coaches (including youth coaches) for all program areas –  Bunnies, Jackrabbits,  Adventure, Track Attack, T2T, L2C. It would also include Event volunteers (eg. TA Champs, BBQ sales).

Telemark has created a zone4 registration page to make sure that we capture everybody and have proper records. This process takes less than 5 minutes to complete.

Please link to this Zone 4 page to upload your Proof of Vaccination. As of practice on Saturday, November 6th, any parent helper or volunteer that has not provided Proof of Vaccination will not be able to work with the kids.

Additionally, we are requesting that athletes with vaccine passports also register on the Zone4 page. This will assist our coaches and volunteers in planning practices and events. Also note that vaccine passports will be a requirement for most events this season, such as the upcoming Teck Regional Camp at Sovereign Lake, the Dec 4-5 FIS Canada Cup at Sovereign Lake, Rossland Kootney/Canada Cup, BC Games Trials for Nordic and Biathlon and the World Junior Trials in Canmore.

Current Track Attack Rules

  • We are currently reverting to our winter rules for this group
  • Before Every Group Training Session All individuals must complete a self-assessment of Health
  • Physical Distancing is Required. “Snowflake!” Stay 2 meters apart at all times
  • Maximum Youth Athlete Group size of 12
  • All Coaches, Helpers, Supervisors and officials (12 and older) for youth sport events and programs Require Proof of Vaccination. Please upload yours to zone4.ca Here!
  • Track Attack group require additional support from parents to help encourage our rules. We should try to avoid more than 1 parent for every 4 skiers
  • No sharing of food or Water
  • No equipment should be shared
  • Carpooling is not recommended (Wear a Mask if you do)

Don’t hesitate to contact us if you have any questions and, as always, please familiarize yourself with our Covid Plan, which we will continue to update as needed.

BIATHLON BC Cup #1 Whistler Accommodations (Dec 17-19)

November 2, 2021 Posted by Chris Halldorson

Hello Biathlon Families!

The registration for the first BIATHLON BC Cup in less than 2 months(!) will be opening soon. Here are the accommodation details for the race.

Who:

This race is a good event for the L2C, T2T (armband) and Master’s groups

Location of Race:

Whistler Olympic Park – Venue of the 2010 Winter Olympics

Dates:

  • Plan to be at the Biathlon range on Friday Dec 17 for official training at 12:30
  • Plan on returning to Kelowna after the awards ceremony on Sunday Dec 19

Accommodations: At away races, we prefer to stay as a team at the same accommodations in order to simplify pre-race meetings and to build team spirit. These away races can be a lot of fun.

For this event, the host organizing committee has arranged an accommodation/catering service through the Whistler Athletes Center. and the Whistler Food Company. The Whistler Athlete’s centre is a dorm-style accommodation with single occupancy or double occupancy options. The Whistler Food Company does a pretty good job with catered meals for athletes. Biathlon BC has been using them for their training camps.

Bookings will include accommodations as well as dinner on Nov 17, breakfast and dinner on Nov 18 and breakfast on Nov 19. Please review the flyer below for full details.

You can book accommodations by calling: (604) 964 0052

Parent Helpers:

I’ll be putting out a call out for some helper roles once the race registration has opened. Some key

  • Zero coach(es): Coach who can help zero rifles before the race starts
  • Warmup coach(es): Coach who can help the T2T group get an adequate warmup prior to the race
  • Rifle runners: Individuals who can carry rifles back and forth from the shooting mats and shooting racks during the race
  • Ski waxers: individuals who can assist with waxing the team skis for the race
