Hello Ski Fans,
If you are a TR2 and require HF wax for the race on Saturday please leave your race skis clean and clearly labeled on the race room wall tonight.
Recently, I went on a trip to the World Junior/U23 Trials race in Thunder Bay with the BC team and Telemark’s Alex Myshak-Davis and Emily Ertel. Emily was sick the entire time but managed a 22nd in the sprint qualifier. Alex who is a Junior Girl and was racing up in the Junior Women catagory finished 14th in the Skiathlon (ski 7.5km classic and then switch to skate gear and ski another 7.5km) despite a very poor transition and then dropping one of her poles while already up to speed and having to turn around and go back for it… Alex finished 15th in the sprint race. Sunday in the 10km Skate race Alex met here goal by finishing 10th place. This is a great result in a deep and competitive field!
Another former Telemark Junior Racer is David Palmer. He skied with Telemark until the end of the 2007 season before moving away to Burns lake. David later returned to train with us at Telemark in the 2010-2011 season in which he earned his only National Championships medal. David is now skiing in Rossland and going to flight school. To make a long story short David Qualified to go to the World Junior at Liberec in the Czech Republic. David is the first current or former Telemark skier to qualify for the World Championships in Cross Country Skiing since Chad Smith (son of Phillis and Jack Smith) in the 90’s. Go David! Say hi to Anthony Cihlar for us while you are there. Below is a picture of David racing at the BC champions in 2007.
