COVID-19 protocols and how you can help

October 30, 2020 Posted by Paul

Hello ski fans,

With cases on the upswing in BC, it is time to do a refresher on how to best support our athletes during the pandemic, and to continue to have a program for them to participate in.

How the coaches pitch in:

  1. Doing a wellness check with each athlete at the beginning of practice
  2. Continual reminding of keeping distance
  3. Designing practices that are outside and where equipment is not shared
  4. In the rare case where equipment needs to be shared (for example, pull-ups), sterilizing between each use
  5. Finding ways to have fun, engaging, and challenging practices within these restrictions
  6. Ensuring that the athletes and coaches are masked in the van

How the athletes pitch in:

  1. Doing a wellness check before each practice – https://bc.thrive.health/covid19/en
  2. Staying physically distant from athletes and coaches outside of your family
  3. Bringing a mask in case it is needed
  4. Bringing your own stuff so you’re not tempted to borrow from another athlete
  5. Working hard and having fun

How the parents pitch in:

  1. Talking to the kids about how to stay safe while training
  2. Modelling physical distancing and mask wearing when appropriate to help them remember
  3. Make sure they have all their stuff so they’re not tempted to borrow from others

This is just a summary of our full plan, which you can find at Return to Sport Plan

We are living in challenging times, but have the ability now to have fun training together and have great adventures.  If we keep being careful, we are likely to be able to have an amazing season of skiing together.

Gratefully, your coaching team.
