Parent helpers:  To make it a positive experience for our racers, there are a number of roles we need help with during the race in order to helper skiers have the best event possible. We will assign roles on the day of each race:

  • Penalty loop counter: We will need one parent to station in the penalty loop on Sunday
  • Course support: We station someone on course to provide support during the ski race on both days
  • Start/finish: We station someone at the start/finish area to make sure each skier makes their start time on time and has a friendly face at the finish area on both days
  • Zero/range coaches: We will need 1 extra coach in the range on Saturday and 2 extra coaches in the range on Sunday

#AlwaysInspired Campaign

The BC Winter Games #AlwaysInspired Campaign has been created to celebrate the hard work of athletes and coaches who qualified for the 2022 BC Winter Games, previously scheduled for this February. Participants, clubs, and PSOs are encouraged to take part by sharing content from competitions happening over the course of February 18 – March 6 where athletes, coaches, officials, or volunteers are embodying the spirit of the BC Winter Games. This includes, but is not limited to, competition results, displays of team spirit, and other stories of interest (see below for more examples).

The tagline #AlwaysInspired derives from our organizational vision to Strive to inspire exceptional experiences through sport, as well as the perseverance and dedication shown by athletes and coaches to stay engaged in their sport.

HOW TO PARTICIPATE

There are many ways to take part in the BC Winter Games #AlwaysInspired Campaign:

  • Athletes and coaches can share content to social media (Facebook, Twitter, or Instagram) using the hashtag #AlwaysInspired.
  • Include a brief explanation of the competition taking place and the people involved.
  • PSOs and Clubs can share content to their social media channels using the hashtag #AlwaysInspired OR email us interesting stories for us to spotlight through our social media channels (info@bcgames.org).
  • The campaign will run from February 18 – March 6, aiming to cover all competitions occurring in the coming weeks.
  • Everyone is encouraged to engage online by re-sharing, liking, and commenting on all posts.
  • Prizes will be drawn throughout the campaign – use the #AlwaysInspired hashtag or submit content to us directly to be entered to win!

CONTENT CAPTURE GUIDELINES

  • Take a photo or video using a camera or mobile device.
  • Consider video and photo quality when submitting or sharing your content.
    • All videos should be recorded in landscape (horizontally) and be as least shaky as possible.
    • Ensure video recordings are complete and be aware of any background noise or commentary during the recording.
  • Videos should be anywhere from 15-45 seconds, not exceeding 60 seconds in length.
  • Be conscious and respectful of people’s privacy – all BC Games Society rules and policies such as Code of Conduct, Privacy, and Harassment must be considered.
