Second Annual Team Bottle Drive Fundraiser

September 21, 2021 Posted by Coach Adam

Hello Team!

Families are asked to start collected bottles asap and on Sunday October 3rd starting at 10am we will all gather to sort and count the bottles, 3651 Glencoe Rd
Reach out now to your friends, relatives, neighbours, co-workers. Post it on facebook, you can go pick-up or drop at your place. Do you know anyone in a condo or 55 plus community that might be willing to put up a notice? Get your athlete to canvass your neighborhood or any neighborhood of your choice in advance of Oct 3rd. If you are doing a particular neighborhood please email sonyabridge@gmail.com, we live far and wide and ran into no overlaps last year. We are not doing a neighborhood sign up this time.
You can organize a couple of athletes to partner up and tackle a bunch of streets together.
Do you have a vehicle load already? You can drop bottles anytime at 3651 Glencoe Road, for anyone new, this is the home of one of our Race Team families (Eloise Train to Train and Oliver and Track Attack) They have kindly offered up their property again as a collection/sorting place, there are large apple bins to add the cans/bottles to on the right side as you pull in the driveway. Just drop, go and return with more and come help sort and count on Sunday Oct 3rd.  Eloise/Oliver’s Dad is Pip’s cell 250-899-0354.
Hit everyone with an ask, you would be surprised what people have stockpiled and are happy to give away for a good cause! It saves them a trip to the depot and the Race Team gets valuable dollars.
Did you know we fundraise each year in order to have money to pay for our fabulous coaches. We are fortunate at Telemark to have a full time paid Nordic coach (Adam Elliot)  a part time Nordic Coach (Alex McDonald) and a part time Biathlon Coach (Chris Halldorson.) The bottle drive, prize raffle, ski waxing and general donation drive are a few of the activities. Believe it or not the registration fees do not cover all expenses. Last year our inaugural bottle drive raised $4300, let’s aim to beat this total!
To make it a success we need everyone to participate with at least one full vehicle load, several car loads would be even better 🙂 We get 10 cents for each beverage container (water, juice, wine, beer, pop etc the only items not accepted are those that had dairy milk or milk alternatives) there used to be varying amounts it’s now 10 cents each.
Please reach out to Sonya Bridge with any questions cell:902-440-5450 email: sonyabridge@gmail.com
Thank you!
PS We are set up with Return It as well provincewide but the bottle drive is the best way for a big group effort to secure a large chunk of funds in a short period and a fantastic opportunity for the kids to participate in funding team costs.
