Kelowna Cycle Cyclocross Fundraiser

Hi Everybody!

Sunday the 28th of October is a big day for the race team, with both our annual swap meet and our annual Cyclocross fundraiser events on the same day. The schedules have been arranged so that there is little overlap time-wise between the events, so we should be able to be involved in both.

For the cyclocross race, the main volunteer requirement is help with course construction on Saturday afternoon starting at 1 pm. We do need some help with scoring and course marshalling during each of the two races. We also encourage any and all to come and race, so come early and have fun! I’ve created a sign up sheet for volunteering at:

Sovereign Lakes Poker Ski and Summer Wax

Hi everybody,

1. Sovereign Lakes Nordic is having a Poker Ski and barbeque this Saturday ( http://www.sovereignlake.com/ ). Looks like good fun and I know they’re still getting a lot of snow so the conditions should be pretty nice. This is their last weekend of grooming in April.

2. As a bunch of you know already, I’m doing the ride to conquer cancer as a fundraiser for the BC Cancer Agency this June. When you decide that you’re done skiing this spring (don’t forget that Sovereign opens for a couple of weeks in May!) I’d be happy to summer wax skis for small donations to the Ride. I’ll pick them up, wax them with fancy storage wax, then drop them back off at your place. Pop me an email at paul.shipley@ubc.ca to set it up. My Ride page, for further details, is at:
