Tree Planting – Back By Popular Demand

May 12, 2014 Posted by Barry

Heartland Economics will be holding another Tree Planing Fundraiser this year.  The dates selected are the weekends of May 24 & 25th and June 7 & 8th.  Hopefully there is a day there that works for all interested parties.  We will provide more details as we get closer to these weekends.

As before, planting bags and shovels will be available in limited quantities, so if possible try and spread out the planters over all 4 days (not everyone on the same day). Please use the sign up sheet (click here) so we know who is planning on coming each day.

The donation amount will be the same as previous years at 25 cents / tree.  Planting supervision and training will be provided  for those that are new to it.  This is a great way to help raise funds for the upcoming ski season and also do something positive for our environment, so come out and get involved.

Planters wouldn’t be expected to plant all day.  It would be up to you to arrange your own transportation to and from the site, but car pooling is always a good idea.  The crew will marshal at 9am at 10km on Brenda Mine Rd., then drive to the block together from there.

ACCESS NOTES: To get to the block drive to Peachland and turn right at the third set of traffic lights, go up Princeton Avenue.  Follow Princeton Ave. until it turns to gravel and keep going.  The gravel starts at 0 km, stay on the main road (gravel) and keep right at approx. 6km .  The road turns back to pavement, keep going until 10km and turn right, into Silver Lake camp. We will meet here by the Large SILVER LAKE CAMP sign.  Then drive to 10.5km and turn left.  Follow the road until 12km and you are at the block 129.  We’ll post a good map pretty soon, so stay tuned.

The tree plant will go ahead rain or shine, so come out and support Telemark Biathlon and Telemark Junior Racers.
