Telemark athletes rocking around North America!

Telemark athletes have been rockin’ it around North America this weekend!

Soldiers’ Hollow, UT

Our own Gareth Williams has been on fire at the World Junior Championships this weekend.  We were amazed at his 20th place in distance skate, then he raised the bar with an incredible 11th place in the skiathlon event (half classic technique, switch skis and poles, then half skate).  Gareth then qualified for the relay team for Canada that placed 10th overall.  Gareth, we are so proud!

Nakkertok Nordic, ON

David Walker, Alex MacDonald, Ian Williams and Ben Shipley were all representing Telemark at the Eastern Canadian Championships this weekend near Ottawa.  All four showed those Easterners that we train hard here in the Okanagan with solid finishes each.  Some highlights include Ian and Ben never being out of the top 8, with a podium finish for Ian in the prologue classic event at 3rd place, and Alex qualifying 5th (!!) for the sprints on Friday, and an 11th place for David on Saturday’s distance classic race.  Fantastic work all of you.

Prince George, BC

We had over a dozen athletes skiing at BC Cup #2 in Prince George.  The results are pretty long to list, but highlights would include Justin and Tristan qualifying for “A” finals with a silver for Justin; Garrett and Tristan were fastest kids in their YOB, with Connor a close second, in Saturday’s sprints; Justin repeating his silver in the distance skate event on Sunday; Gregor and Garrett getting gold on Sunday in their age groups; Connor and Tristan getting gold and bronze in the Juvenile Boys; Deepa, Sean, and Adam picking up some hardware in the Master Blaster and Open Men categories.  Nice work everybody!

Telemark Nordic, BC

Seven teams of two duked it out for cookie prizes at the 2nd annual Racing Rabbit Relay Race at Telemark yesterday.  15 cm of fresh powder, beautiful weather, a cracker start, and a cookie finish made for a fun day!  Kai Redman was the first finisher, so he and his partner Matt Shipley got the first two cookies!

Congratulations to all of you this weekend!  We have been very impressed with how all of our rock star athletes have been training hard and improving this year!
