Hello Ski Fans!
Coach Eric and the Sovereign Lakes gang are running a fun weekend of racing and Nationals course pre-skiing the weekend of February 22-23. Skiers that are not attending Midgets or BCWG are encouraged to attend. While it is not an officially “supported” race we will have coaches there to help with waxing and racing. T2T athletes, let coach Paul know if you are attending. L2C athletes, let coach Ross know if you are attending. There will be no organized training for the T2T group at Telemark that day, as the coaches will be either at Sovereign, Midgets, or BCWG.
Coach Eric’s information:
Classic Sprint on Saturday, February 22 in the afternoon (13:30 start, to allow morning masses to leave the venue) followed by a Skate MS (5/10km) on Sunday morning. Both of these opportunities will be previews of the National Championships courses at the end of March. Many of your skiers may not be familiar with the Lower/West 5km course so this beta may help you in your final preparations leading into Nationals plus give some much needed “race” training.
I would utilize bibs, webscorer timing for the qualification and the mass start with the course marked well. Course would be groomed like they would for Nationals. Heats for the sprint would be kings court style.
