Hello Ski Fans,
Temperatures of right around zero with a little fresh snow around to help ice up skis made the waxing difficult at Yesterday’s race. There was no perfect solution there was only a compromise of enough grip in the track and then walking on ice clumps or challenging grip with fast skis; we chose fast skis. The people who could adapt their skiing for the feel of the track and snow had the best results. Maybe we should ski with less grip more often and practise running up the hills outside of the track as well. Thank you to Scott for the 8 hours of wax testing and application on Sunday plus the rest of the weekend.
We did manage to have some great results including: Nikhil 1st, Ian M1st with Gregor 3rd, Madeleine 3rd 1998, Hamish 4th with Oliver 5th 2001, Michelle 3rd with Abigail 7th, Alexandra 12th and racing in the 19 year old catagory Gareth 17 and David 28th in the Classic Race.
Saturday had a Skate Sprint for the Open Categories and those choosing to race up. In Junior Men David was 27th with Gareth 32nd and Alexandra was 18th in Jr. Women.
Saturday also had a Mass Start Skate race for the younger age categories so people were tripped and skis with SNS pilot Junior bingings were just knocked off. Don’t buy these poor quality bingings Please!
We did have some great results though including: Nikhil 1st, Madeleine 1st 1998, Hamish 4th, Oliver 5th with Chet 6th 2001 and Michelle 5th with Abigail 6th 2001.
Thanks, Adam
