January 28, 2015 Posted by Coach Adam

Nickel Plate Registration Deadline, Race Management Plan and Summer Road TT Results

Saturday January 31st 2015 Free Technique (Skate) Mass Start Race Registration

Sunday February 1st 2015 Classic Technique Sprint Format Race Registration

Nickel Plate OK Cup Race Notice and Maps Page HERE

These are lower key fun races designed for participation by all the Interior ski clubs although it appears that only Larch Hills, Penticton and Telemark plan to attend. This should make for some fun competition.

Saturday’s Race is a mass start skating race.  Sunday’s race is a classic sprint in the King’s Court Format, with the first heats seeded by Saturday’s results.  The King’s court sprint races guarantee 3 races per skier, with each successive heat skiers become more and more evenly matched as they are seeded after each finish. You need to register for each day separately. This is a great event for Junior Development Members.

Last night we had some very fast conditions for the Summer Road TT. The fastest TR1 skier skied from the start of Forest to the top of Telemark via Summer Road in 5:26! The record set by Gareth last year is 4:07. Results are below along with some times from previous years:

Apparently very few people read this plan last week and even fewer watch these videos. Grip on Sunday could be challenging so please review these two Technique videos: Video 1  , Video 2. If you have not done so already please watch them now.

Testing Kick Crew: Arrive early and derive the secret combination of grippy skis which still glide quickly.

Wax Bench Staff: Arrive Later then Test crew, quickly produce a high quality Grip application, Remain calm and supportive at all times when communicating with each other and athletes and have FUN.

Warmup Crew: Ensure athletes are delivered to the start on time, completely warmed up with the standard listed warmup beginning on time and pumped up and Ready to Rock!

Technique Video Camera: Have a startlist so you know when our racers are approaching, Try to get an angle where you can get a descent front and good side view of the skiers and hold the Camera as steady as possible when panning the camera. Volunteer Needed?

Pole Person: Stand in the first part of mass start / sprint races and handout spare poles to anyone who may need one; handle end pointed at athlete. Volunteer Needed?

Clean-up Crew: at the end of the day benches and tents need to be folded up and wax and tools need to be put away; Anyone can help.

Athletes: It is your job to ski to the very best of your abilities, Thank Volunteers and Thank the Telemark Support crew who make your racing better.

Everyone: Have Fun; at the end of any race day it is just a ski race, You start in one spot and you basically finish in the same spot, so let’s have a good time.
