It’s almost Hallowe’en and time to run our annual cyclocross race! Kelowna Cycle runs this event for us each year to help us raise funds to support our fantastic program. To show them how much we appreciate it we need to have all of us helping make it happen. Here are some of those ways:
Course Construction – We will build the course as part of our fall Telemark Day Camp this Saturday October 15th. With many hands we can get this done in under two hours easily. Construction starts at 1pm, right after lunch. Bring work gloves and sledgehammers (staple guns too if you have them).
WE NEED PUMPKINS AND KITCHY HALLLOWE’EN DECORATIONS! We only need them for Saturday/Sunday, so you get them back for your own Hallowe’en decorating. Bring them Saturday to the day camp.
Timing – I need a dedicated timing team. This takes five people (two to run the main system, three for the backup). 9am – 1pm Sunday
Registration – Two people can handle this job easily. 9am – 12pm Sunday
Course marshaling – Three people to run around fixing the course as people crash into it! 10am – 1pm Sunday
Competitors! The more the merrier. There are categories for all ages and abilities. Cycling BC one day licenses will be available. In years past we have had some spectacular results by our athletes, in particular Jon Sader schooling the B category in his first ever ‘cross race.
Kelowna Cycle will also be running the best sausage barbeque that you’ve ever eaten, so bring some extra cash to pick up some delicious dogs!
