Cyclocross season is here, and with it comes one of our big fundraisers! Kelowna Cycle is once again supporting us running the annual Craaawws! Race on October 19th as a fundraiser for the team. Let’s show them how much we appreciate their support by volunteering and racing at this fantastic event.
This year we are changing venues to the Mission Creek Mountain Bike Skills Park. It will be a fantastic venue, right on the greenway, great parking across the road at the start of phase two of the Greenway. Plus, it gives us a flyover, berms, and lots of fun bumps to ride over!
Kelowna Cycle is running their fantastic barbeque by donation, so there will be great food on site.
As an added bonus, Dan Roycroft, Nordic skiing Olympian and the owner of Zone4 race timing, is coming to help us time the race. As an added bonus, he would like some time to hang out with our race team kids. To make that happen, after the race we can all wander over to my house (1604 Lambert Ave.) for a potluck and some quality time. This will be a great chance to hang out with your ski buddies and go for a run with an Olympian!
The race schedule goes something like this.
11:00 is the first start, and will be the open class (bring any bike, haven’t done any or much CX racing), as well as the Women’s elite and open, and the U17 open (40 minutes).
12:00 is the little kids’ race. Run bikes are fine. Very short. Adults help kids get bikes over the barriers.
12:20 is the U12 course. This is a shortened course.
1:15 is the Men’s sport and elite starts, and the U17 elite.
Setup will be the night before at 6 (with some touch up work the following morning).
I’m using Volunteersignup for the volunteer positions and what to bring to the potluck. Sign up here:

The more of you that race the better. It is a ton of fun, and I think I can guarantee that, unlike up at Telemark, we likely won’t have an overnight snowfall!
