Congratulations Gareth and Telemark High Performance Skiers!!

Gareth U23 Trials

Our very own Gareth Williams (who has been skiing at Telemark from the age of 5) qualified to represent Canada at the 2017 FIS Nordic Junior and U23 World Ski Championships.  This is a first for our team!!  Also selected as an alternate for the U23 Men’s team is Thomas Hardy who is from Larch Hills but is training with Telemark. Congratulations also to our other High Performance athletes who performed very well (Alex MacDonald, David Walker and Hannah Mehain) in a huge field of more than 600 racers from across North America!  And special recognition to Coach Adam who meticulously planned our athletes’ training cycle to peak at the right time.  I am also certain that he nailed the wax.  He always does.

Gareth Williams (Jnr. Men): 2nd 15km Skate, 8th Classic Sprint, 3rd 10km Classic

David Walker (Jnr. Men): 32nd 15km Skate, 54th Classic Sprint, 20th 10km Classic

Alex MacDonald (U23 Men): 43rd 15km Skate, 18th Classic Sprint, 28th 30km Classic

Thomas Hardy (U23 Men): 26th 15km Skate, 23rd Classic Sprint, 6th 30km Classic

Hannah Mehain (Jnr. Women): 46th 15km Skate, 9th Classic Sprint, 11th 7.5km Classic

Happy New Year Race Team Parents! The snow is fantastic.

Two important reminders:

Silent Auction

  • The Telemark Club is hosting a Silent Auction (all proceeds to our Race Team and Biathlon). It ends at midnight tonight. Bids placed on line http://telemarknordic.com/beta/.
  • There are some great XC ski products to bid on plus a getaway in the Chilcotin!

Race Team Raffle

For those of you who have not yet pre-paid for your Telemark Raffle booklets, please do so this week

  • 1 booklet per child ($125) to a maximum of 2 booklets per family ($250). Cheques payable to Telemark Junior Racers. Please pay Sean Siever at practice Tuesday night or at the BC Cup Race in Salmon Arm this weekend.
