Training safely in the Fall

October 7, 2020 Posted by Paul

Hello Ski Fans,

Fall is here, and that means that it is starting to get dark during our evening sessions. Last year we had a handful of athletes and coaches pick up interesting scars while trail running without headlamps.

Headlamps are required for evening dryland training! We will be enforcing this strictly this year.

Evening roller ski sessions: Reflective gear is now required. Sessions that continue after civil twilight also require a red blinky facing backwards and a white light facing forwards. Full details can be found here: https://race.teamtelemark.ca/roller-ski-safety-policy/

It is the responsibility of the athletes and the parents to ensure that we can run safe and effective sessions. As much as we have no desire to exclude athletes from a session, we will do so if they arrive without what they need to safely train.

A key to the magic Telemark words

September 29, 2020 Posted by Paul

Hi everybody, it being the beginning of the season here is a quick explanation of acronyms that we use:

SK – Skate (in the fall this means skate roller skis)
CL – Classic (in the fall this means classic roller skis)
RVE – Rose Valley Elementary
SEK – South Kelowna Elementary https://goo.gl/maps/bey5TQPDTtbmZVpN8
JS TT – June Springs time trial. Short starts Spiers and June Springs roads, Medium and Long start at June Springs and Matthews
Boucherie Ball Diamonds – Meet right here: https://goo.gl/maps/SGwF1gnAhufUkjV67
Knox – We meet at the base of Knox Mountain Drive
The Tennis Courts – These are the tennis courts just east of the Apple Bowl stadium
TA – Track Attack, the younger group (also called L2T, or learn to train)
T2T – Train to train, the middle aged group
L2C – Learn to complete, the older group

Whew! I hope that’s all of them. Happy fall!
