Kelowna Cycle Roller Ski Order Ready for Pickup

June 6, 2015 Posted by Coach Adam

Kelowna Cycle $4500 donationThanks again to Pat and Kelowna Cycle for offering us these Roller Skis at a big discount. This has saved the members of the team several Thousands of Dollars.

Drilled and Mounted One Way Skis

It turns out that mounting 22 pairs of Roller Skis is a lot of work! Most needed to be completely disassembled so that the binding jig could fit on the ski correctly.

All of the skis are at the Pandosy Kelowna Cycle location ready for pickup. All of the boxes are clearly labelled with your name and the cost of the bindings on the box. They will also be entered in the computer as a Lay-away at the store.

On the Box it will also say “Do you need Carbide Roller Tips?” In general the answer is YES. Here is why:

Great quality long lasting carbide tips saving you money. Replace your snowbaskets with these so you don’t have to replace your snow baskets which are more expensive. All Snow Baskets are not as durable as proper Roller Ski Tips but if your snow baskets tips are not Carbide they will wear out almost immediately and slip.

Kelowna Cycle has two different colours of Baskets. The Red ones (10mm) fit most of the poles on the market including Swix and Yoko. The Bright Green baskets are a little smaller (9mm) and fit the Oneway Poles.

KC can mount you Tips there if you like or you can follow these simple instructions.

To remove snow baskets, boil water and dip them in (heat gun also works well)  to loosen the heat sensitive glue. Slide off baskets and then using some hot glue, slide on the Tips and make sure they are pointed forward so they’ll stick into pavement when poling. If you don’t have a hot glue gun, just buy a hot glue stick and melt with a lighter and dap onto the pole end before sliding on the ferrule. Always use heat sensitive glue so they can later be removed.

If you missed out on the March Roller Ski order but would still like to get some skis Kelowna Cycle has additional skis in stock at the Pandosy Location.

Reminder / Update Tree Planting this Weekend

May 22, 2015 Posted by Coach Adam

Hello Ski Fans,

Tree planting is a great way for the athletes and Parents to do some fundraising to support our team. Especially the athletes who can/should give back during this opportunity.

Please Sign Up ASAP for Tree Planting Here Link

The Heartland Economics Tree Planing Fundraiser is all set to go!  Sunday is “full” but we still have a bit of room on Saturday for those that are late signing up. What “Full” means is that they do not have more Shovels or Bags. If you have your own Shovel and Capabilities to carry Trees you are more than welcome still come.

As before, planting bags and shovels will be available in limited quantities (feel free to bring along your own shovel).  Planting supervision and training will be provided  for those that are new to it.  This is a great way to help raise funds for the upcoming ski season and also do something positive for our environment.

It is up to you to arrange your own transportation to and from the site, but car pooling is always a good idea.  The crew will marshal at 9 am and  at 10km on Brenda Mine Rd., then drive to the block together from there.

ACCESS NOTES: To get to the block drive to Peachland and turn right (if you are coming from Kelowna) at the third set of traffic lights to go up Princeton Avenue.  Follow Princeton Ave. until it turns to gravel and keep on going.  The gravel starts at 0 km, stay on the main road (gravel) and keep right at approx. 6km .  The road turns back to pavement, keep going until 10km and turn right into Silver Lake camp. We will meet here by the Large SILVER LAKE CAMP sign.  Then we will drive as a group to 10.5km and turn left.  Follow the road until 15 km – keep left there – we are planting at the first outblock after that. Map Available HERE!

Thank You for your Support,

Adam Elliot
