BC Winter Games; Born 2001 or 2002?

BC WINTER GAMES

Penticton, BC  2016

Were you born in 2001 or 2002?

If so you will be eligible to try out for the BC Winter Games in 2016!

Join other skiers your age from communities throughout British Columbia for a weekend of cross-country skiing competition and fun.

There will be 8 zones represented – Kootenay, Okanagan, Lower Mainland (3), Vancouver Island, Northwest and Northeast.

At least 8 skiers from YOUR zone can take part in the cross-country skiing events, and possibly more.

You can find our more about cross-country skiing and the BC Winter Games on page 39 of your 2015 Ski Cross Country magazine or by visiting the CCBC website at: http://www.crosscountrybc.ca/sites/default/files/documents/2016%20BC%20Winter%20Games%20Technical%20Guidelines.pdf.

The cross-country ski events at the Games will include:

Interval Start Race:  15 second intervals, classic technique, 3.5k (Midgets) & 5k (Juveniles)

Individual Sprint Race:  free technique, distance 400 metres

Zone Relays:  2 guys, 2 girls, mixed techniques, combined age categories, 4 x 2.0k

Saturday Camp Day November 7th

Hello Ski Fans,

Below is the plan for Saturday. Assuming we don’t get a large amount of snow today. The Wax clinic now starts earlier for parents; 12:30. Junior Development and TJR will start at 10 am with a Run at Telemark.

Bring a Lunch as this is a camp day. If you cannot make it in the morning feel free to join in at any point.

November 7th

9am TR2-TR1 Ski from Helen Gorman Elementary School.

Uphill Time Trial for TR2-1s at 9:30ish 3.5 + 2.5 km Distance.

10am TJR and JD run at Telemark.

11am meet for Training and Competition Readiness Presentation and Workshop

Noon Lunch Time (bring a Lunch)

12:30 Parents: Wax Clinic. Bring your Wax Kit.

1pm Athletes: Steal the Flag, Strength and Stretch

2pm Setup the Cyclocrawws Course for Fundraising. “So bring your work gloves, a staple gun if you have it, and a big hammer and we’ll have the course up in a couple hours or even less.” More information and sign up for Sundays Race HERE.
