Seeking Individuals interested in becoming Officials

September 19, 2024 Posted by Chris Halldorson

Are you wanting to help support our programs but don’t feel that coaching is a good fit?

We are seeking interested individuals to take training as Race Officials. Our club regularly hosts both Biathlon and Cross Country Ski competitions. These competitions generate revenue for our programs, and also gives our athletes the opportunities to compete at home in front of Friends and Family.

These events require trained officials in order to succeed, and becoming an official is a great way to help support your skier in a fashion that focuses on competitions over coaching roles. Some of you may have noticed some parents helping to time events like time trials, our annual triathlon and apple bowl testing. Having volunteers able to help in these areas are just as impactful as our coach volunteers, and really help our programs to offer training and events that really exceed basic practices!

This fall both Biathlon Canada and Nordiq Canada are offering online courses to recruit new officials. I would encourage interested members to consider taking training for both sports as it can be helpful for Telemark for our officials group to be able to work together on hosting events in both sports as opposed to developing officials for each sport separately.

Details on the officials courses below:
