Parents’ Meeting Monday

June 22, 2012 Posted by Barry

Parents’ meeting Monday 7:30 PM on the patio at Barry’s house, 2947 Lakeside Court in West Kelowna.  This will be just a status update, unless some of you bring new business.

– funding (we are solid this year but next year is going to need work)

– fundraising

– new groomer hardware

– 3 CCBC Coaching Workshops in Kelowna this year

– accommodations for summer dryland camp that Adam is running in Kelowna in conjunction with Callaghan NTC

– schedule problem for the Silver Star camp.  Nov 10 is a BC Talent team camp at Silver Star.  Nov 17 is the BC Talent Camp at Silver Star.  Nov 24 is a waxing clinic that Coach Adam must attend.  Bottom line is SameSun Hostel will not be available.  Coach Adam wonders if we could move it to Nickel Plate.

– Other business?

“Ski to School” Scholarship

This scholarship is to be awarded to an individual who combines excellence in both academics and cross country skiing. The scholarship has been funded by Canadian university alumni cross country skiers and other interested parties to encourage students to continue to combine excellence in both academics and cross country skiing as they proceed with their post secondary education. If no individual applies who meets the requirements as determined in the sole discretion of the selection committee, the scholarship will not be awarded. In such an event, a second scholarship may be awarded in a subsequent year.

Amount: Value will depend on size of endowment and interest earned ($500.00)

Criteria: The applicant must meet the following requirements:

  • Individual must have achieved a grade average of B+ (80%) or above and demonstrated national level potential in cross country skiing;
  • Individual must be attending a post secondary university educational institute as a full time student in the next academic year. The Selection Committee may consider individuals attending on a part time basis provided the individual will be completing and full academic year within a 12 month period;
  • Individual must be a licensed racer and a member of a ski club in Canada.

For more information on the Application Process, please visit CCC’s Ski to School Scholarship webpage.
